OttrClub Acceptable Use Policy / Community Guidelines
This is the full, public version of the community guidelines you agree to in-app before your first post, comment, or message. It expands on Terms of Service §4 ("Community Rules"), which remains the governing legal text. If there's ever a conflict, the Terms of Service control.
1. Our community promise
OttrClub is parents supporting parents, at 3am and every other hour. By using OttrClub, you agree to:
- Be kind and supportive. No abuse, harassment, threats, hate, or discrimination; we're all doing our best.
- Keep it safe. No sexually explicit, violent, or illegal content.
- Be yourself. Don't impersonate others or misrepresent who you are.
- Skip the spam. No unsolicited ads or misleading information.
- Respect privacy. Never share another person's private details without their consent.
2. What's not allowed
Building on the promise above, you agree not to post, send, or share content that:
- Is abusive, harassing, threatening, hateful, or discriminatory toward any person or group.
- Is sexually explicit, graphically violent, or illegal in the country you're posting from.
- Impersonates another person, brand, or organisation, or otherwise misrepresents your identity.
- Is spam, unsolicited advertising, or contains misleading information, including misleading health or safety claims.
- Shares another person's private information (e.g. contact details, location, images) without their consent.
- Attempts to circumvent our moderation systems, or exploits technical vulnerabilities in the app.
Repeated or serious breaches can result in content removal, a warning, account suspension, or a permanent ban; see "How we moderate" below.
3. How we moderate
We use a combination of automated AI moderation (Google Gemini) and human review. Some actions (such as automatically blocking a post, comment, or message before anyone sees it, or suspending an account once it has received a set number of reports) may be taken or assisted by an automated system without a person reviewing it first.
Where we remove or restrict your content, or suspend or terminate your account, we will, where reasonably possible, tell you: what content or action is affected, which rule we believe was breached, whether the decision involved an automated system, and how to request a review.
4. Reporting content
If you see content or a user that breaches these guidelines, use the report option on the post, comment, message, or profile. This is our notice-and-action mechanism for illegal or rule-breaking content; we aim to review reports within 72 hours.
5. Appeals
If we take action against you (including a decision made or assisted by an automated system), you can request a human review by emailing legal@ottrclub.com within 30 days, explaining why you believe the decision was wrong. We'll respond within 30 days. For EU users, this is our internal complaint-handling mechanism under the Digital Services Act (Article 20); it doesn't limit your right to use an out-of-court dispute settlement body or seek judicial redress. See Terms of Service §4, "Requesting a review (appeals)," for the full legal text.
6. Crisis support
If our systems identify content that may relate to self-harm or suicide, we may show crisis support resources alongside, or instead of, removing the content. For example, in the UK: Samaritans (call or text 116 123, free, 24/7) or PANDAS Foundation (perinatal mental health).
OttrClub is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services, e.g. 999 (UK), 911 (US), 000 (Australia), or 111 (New Zealand). See the Health & Medical Disclaimer in Terms of Service §5 for more on emergencies and health-related content.
7. Copyright / IP infringement
If you believe content on OttrClub infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, see Terms of Service §9, "Copyright / IP infringement reports," for how to send a notice (and, if your content was removed, how to send a counter-notice).
8. Point of contact
For questions about content moderation, appeals, or to contact us as a point of contact under the EU Digital Services Act, email legal@ottrclub.com.
Changes to these guidelines
These guidelines may change as the community grows. When they do, the in-app version number changes and you'll be asked to re-accept the next time you post, comment, or message.
